                       THE RAPTURE

Have you ever heard of the Rapture? It is not a word that the Bible uses. Instead, the Bible says “we will be caught away” or “caught up”.

When Jesus rose from the dead and the Apostles received the gift of the Holy Spirit, things became clear to them for the first time. When Jesus walked among them, they thought that he would deliver them from Roman rule. They thought he was an earthly deliverer. When he died on the cross, they were totally confused and frightened. What they did not understand was that Christ is our deliverer from our own inability to pay for our sins.

The reason that the New Testament is called “The Good News” is because it delivered us from attempting to save ourselves. For all recorded time, man thought he had to keep every commandment of God perfectly and all mankind knew that this was impossible. When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, he revealed to us the fact that he alone paid for our sins. Jesus paid for all the sins of mankind for as long as man walks on earth. Every sin man commits is already paid in full. This is the Good News, that we will never have to pay for our sins if we receive what Jesus offers us as His free gift of Eternal Life.

If you receive this free gift and give your life to Jesus, when He returns for his bride (the church), you and all who belong to Him will be instantly changed. We will receive a glorified body (like Jesus) as we are snatched up to heaven to be with the Lord for all eternity.

1 Cor 15:50-55

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (KJV)

Rapture:continued

Another reason this is called “Good News” is that death no longer has any power over us, for we are free. When you make that commitment to Jesus Christ, believing that He paid for your sins and that He offers you Eternal Life through faith in his work on Calvary and His Resurrection, you have the assurance that you will spend eternity with the Lord. Therefore, we are free from all fear of death and hell and the unknown.

1Thes 4:14-17

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (KJV)

The Rapture will happen. People will be going about their normal business and suddenly, Christians will disappear. No man knows the day or the hour but if you belong to Him, you can know that someday you will be taken out of this world to meet the Lord in the air. We who are truly committed to Him will meet Him in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord..

Our duty now is to live for Him. He gave so much for us, all he asks is that we truly belong to Him. We keep the commandments and try to live in a way that is pleasing to God not because of fear but in love and gratitude for all that Jesus did to enable us to have eternal life.

If you want to go in the Rapture then tell Jesus you want to receive His free gift of Eternal Life. He will not refuse you. He died for you. He loves you.
